Posting Date: September 1, 2021

Closing Date: September 25, 2021

Full-time one-year contract position to start immediately. Renewal subject to funding.

The Agency

The Muslim Resource Centre for Social Support and Integration is a not-for-profit, charitable, anti-violence and social support agency promoting family safety and wellbeing within London’s diverse Muslim and immigrant (including refugee and newcomer) communities.

MRCSSI was established as the outcome of a framework of collaborative initiatives between ant-violence agencies and the London Muslim community to address and respond to the gaps of services and supports for Muslim and immigrant women and children impacted by domestic violence.

MRCSSI is recognized provincially, nationally, and internationally as a highly responsive and innovative organization in developing culturally-integrative responses for family violence and social issues facing these populations. A core focus of MRCSSI work is addressing and responding to the risk of violence and ensuring the safety of women and children, thus striving to foster families and communities free of violence. MRCSSI services are grounded in the Culturally Integrative Model as the overarching umbrella.

The Culturally Integrative Family Safety Response (CIFSR) recognizes the unique context of these populations, and the diverse factors that interplay and intersect to perpetuate, oppress, and disadvantage women and girls, increasing their vulnerabilities on the micro, mezzo, and macro levels. The model is strength- based, culturally-informed and rooted in collaboration through engaging and bringing diverse services to coordinate and support individuals, families, and communities. This model embeds cultural humility and gender analysis within an intersectional and ecological framework.

Over the years, MRCSSI has provided consultancy, training, and support to mainstream, cultural and faith-based organizations to enhance family violence responses effectiveness in serving Muslim and immigrant communities.

MRCSSI fosters research as an integral part of its work to inform its services, examine and address diverse social issues that impact Muslim and immigrant family safety and wellbeing.
